Raising the Bar
“Raising the Bar” is Pace Women’s Justice Center’s largest annual fundraising event, named to reflect our mission of expanding access to justice and elevating the standard of legal advocacy for victims of abuse. Celebrated in 2024 as Westchester Magazine’s Best Nonprofit Event, this powerful gathering takes place each October during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, uniting community leaders, advocates, and supporters to honor changemakers through the “Making a Difference” Award and to raise vital funds ensuring survivors have access to lifesaving legal services.
Shawn Colvin
Shawn Colvin stopped the industry in its tracks with her arresting 1989 debut, Steady On. The following spring, Colvin took home the GRAMMY Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album, establishing herself as a mainstay in the singer-songwriter genre. In the ensuing 30 years, Colvin has won 3 GRAMMY Awards, released 13 superlative albums, written a critically acclaimed memoir, maintained a non-stop national and international touring schedule, appeared on countless television and radio programs, had her songs featured in major motion pictures & created a remarkable canon of work.

HONORING | Dr. Nadine Macaluso
After enduring marriage to the infamous “Wolf of Wall Street,” Nadine has made it her life’s work to help other women understand, escape, and heal from their trauma bonds with pathological partners. Her own toxic relationship inspired her to become a psychotherapist, specializing in narcissistic abuse, trauma bond relationships, and complex PTSD. And her private practice quickly flooded with women recounting an all-too-familiar story of abuse.
Her book, Run Like Hell, offers the reader both her personal experience and professional expertise to explain the behaviors of pathological lovers (PL), reveal the traits of women who become the “victims” of PLs, how women can leave safely, and most importantly, heal. Nadine shows how women can be "surthrivers" of these trauma bonds and go on to have healthy, positive relationships and lives armed with knowledge and awareness.
HONORING | Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins
Andrea Stewart-Cousins holds the positions of President Pro Tempore and Majority Leader of the New York State Senate, and she is the Senator for the 35th District. As the longest-serving Democratic Majority Leader in New York State Senate history, and the first woman and African American woman to occupy this role, her tenure is distinguished by significant legislative achievements and a steadfast commitment to addressing the needs of New Yorkers.
In 2025, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins led the State Senate in passing a comprehensive legislative package to protect survivors of domestic violence and remove barriers to justice, safety, and stability. The bills will address long standing legal loopholes and improve access to critical resources for survivors across Westchester County and New York State. The legislation includes measures to prioritize housing for domestic violence survivors, require police to conduct lethality assessments during domestic violence calls, improve compensation for crime victims, and allow survivors to exit shared contracts without financial penalty. It also provides stronger protections against stalking, coerced debt, and the use of intoxication as a legal defense in sexual assault cases.
